Myth #1: Chiropractic Creates a Dependency |
---|
“Once you go once you go for the rest of your life.”
“They get you hooked” “It’s a scam to keep you coming forever”
“You’re not one of those Chiropractors that keeps you coming forever right?”
“Why do I have to come so often?”
These saying all make Chiropractic seem like a scam, rather than the healthy discipline that it is. Just like working out, brushing your teeth, or taking care of your body, a patient only continues going to the chiropractor as long as they want to maintain the health of your neuromusculoskeletal system. Having an expert like Dr. John check in on your spine and skeletal system on the regular sets you up for long-term health and high quality of life.
It has been built into our cultural systems and rhythms that going to the dentist before your teeth begin to feel pain is the best thing you can do for them. It is not different with the care of your spine, an arguably more important bone structure in your body. Just like you use your teeth every day, your spine is used all day, everyday, whether you are eating, sitting, standing, or exercising. Because of this, you spine experiences wear and tear as you body moves, and this constant movement requires routine chiropractic care that can help you feel better, move freely, and stay healthier for a long period of time. Just like the dentist, a patient can enjoy the benefits of chiropractic care for a short period of time, but the real benefits come into play when you make chiropractic care a part of your life.
Myth #2: Adjustments are Harmful and Temporary |
---|
“I heard that cracking your back can injure you”
“Why don’t adjustments last forever?”
Actually, you feel worse before you feel better. 85% of patients Feel great after their first adjustment, 10% feel no change, 5% feel sore, and 0.5% feel like they have been hit by a truck. Most patients will be a part of the first group, and a small percent of patients will be a part of the latter. The reason for this disparity, often times lies with the patient’s state of health, chronicity of condition, severity of condition, health and severity of arthritis and decay, amount of medication, toxicity level, state of immune system, diet, exercise or lack thereof, and overall state of health. Though most patients have a favorable experience, the small percent that have these symptoms intensify or old symptoms resurface, the information of unwinding and retracing will be very helpful.
Myth #3: It's OK to "Crack" or Adjust Your Own Spine |
---|
“Cracking your back or fingers causes arthritis.”
Actually, the reverse is true, a proper realignment by Dr. John Geinrich prevents arthritis because increase motion and mobility decreases friction and lubrication in the joints. This allows the body to move freely and without pain and inflammation. Improper mobility in the spine causes wear and tear in the joints, often called degenerative disc disease or arthritis (stenosis). Increasing the rage of motion decreases the friction in the joints that causes arthritis. Abnormal decrease in motion increases wear and tear in the spinal area and joints. Dr. John with his specific and unique approach corrects the misalignments (subluxations) that lead to early, unnecessary arthritis and decay.
Myth #4: My Insurance Won't Cover Chiropractic |
---|
"Only people with insurance get chiropractic"
“Why doesn’t my insurance cover my care?”
“Why doesn’t insurance pay for real wellness?”
